I used to like it when I was kid because it was all about making cards for my friends and giving (and receiving) candy. ;) I think things turned sour in middle school when there began to be pressure to have a boy/girlfriend. And now as an adult I'm back to looking at it through my childhood eyes: an opportunity to eat yummy cupcakes, have champagne and share with my friends and loved ones. :)niddetissushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15675473136978180192noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4953523469625493833.post-49258658320960255772012-02-10T22:47:18.176+01:002012-02-10T22:47:18.176+01:00What a nice giveaway! When younger, I usually didn't have a boyfriend or the boyfriend was not a very romantic one, plus I just found the whole thing so commercial. My Mr. and I have now had 15 V-days together and we never celebrated it in the so-called "traditional" way with a meal out, flowers, chocolates, gifts, etc. Instead, our first Valentine's Day together, we cooked a fancy meal for ourselves and stayed in and that's our tradition ever since. But I admit I make cards for the kids and together we make a few cute decorations and cupcakes, something I did with my mom and sister when little.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4953523469625493833.post-88620463549618508882012-02-10T06:37:51.669+01:002012-02-10T06:37:51.669+01:00What a lovely giveaway!

I don't like the valentine tat that is on sale in the supermarkets and shops.Or the hot house, air shipped roses. Uh-oh, I feel like a killjoy now! I do like red and white decorations and I also love the old home made valentines I received as a teenager stashed away in a box.Minnadohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02838971800070422776noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4953523469625493833.post-78047827406523319572012-02-08T17:52:07.644+01:002012-02-08T17:52:07.644+01:00Oh, how lovely! :)
Valentine's isn't wide...Oh, how lovely! :)

Valentine's isn't widely celebrated in Germany, except maybe by the florist industry and teenagers (who, as usual, get their influence from American TV shows ;) although in the first couple of years in my relationship I cooked a special dinner for my boyfriend. (Then again, that was when *I* was a teenager...) His birthday is 3 days earlier, though, so we rather celebrate that. I don't quite get the holiday, it seems very commercialized, I prefer to surprise my boyfriend with a little something every once in a while and he does the same, but it's so much more fun when it's unexpected. :)

I do like heart-shaped, pink strawberry cupcakes, though. ;) Too bad it's not strawberry season...Alessahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16605755512224178329noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4953523469625493833.post-46453439671044025612012-02-08T15:15:34.096+01:002012-02-08T15:15:34.096+01:00That's a very generous giveaway!
There's...That's a very generous giveaway!

There's so many things I don't like about Valentine's Day. Having been as single as it gets for years, I hate how it excludes single people and makes them feel bad about not being in a relationship. Conversation hearts are gross. Red and (especially) pink are two of my least favorite colors. And I fail to see what's so romantic about celebrating a relationship on a day that likely has no meaning to a couple just because Hallmark tells you to--I think the spontaneous celebrations are far more romantic! That being said, I actually did have to buy a card this year, because my new boyfriend is kind of a hopeless romantic and already told me he's at least giving me flowers, so I'd feel really bad if I didn't at least acknowledge that for him.Beckyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09913795373618902575noreply@blogger.com
